What Does
“Empowering Athletes”
Mean?

At Richmond County Fencing Club, our mission is to empower athletes both on and off the strip. We believe fencing is more than just a sport — it’s an opportunity to build character, confidence, and lifelong skills. Every lesson, practice, and competition is designed to help our students grow as athletes and as people.

Integrity

We encourage honesty, respect, and sportsmanship in everything we do. Our athletes learn to compete with honor, support their teammates, and treat opponents, coaches, and officials with respect.

Excellence

We strive for continuous improvement rather than perfection. Whether a student is fencing for fun or training for national competition, we challenge every athlete to work hard, embrace feedback, and become the best version of themselves.

Community

Our club is a welcoming place where everyone belongs. We celebrate each other’s successes, encourage one another through challenges, and build lasting friendships through our shared love of fencing.

Confidence

Fencing teaches athletes to trust themselves, make decisions under pressure, and overcome challenges. We help every student develop the confidence to succeed both in competition and in everyday life.

Growth

Every fencer progresses at their own pace. We celebrate effort, perseverance, and learning from both victories and setbacks, knowing that growth comes from embracing every opportunity to improve.

Leadership

We encourage athletes to lead by example through responsibility, humility, and a positive attitude. Whether mentoring younger fencers or representing the club at competitions, our students learn that leadership is earned through their actions.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum provides a clear pathway from complete beginner to the elite level. Each level builds upon the previous one, ensuring students develop the technical skills, tactical understanding, confidence, and character needed to succeed both on the fencing strip and in life.
